Dart Madness 2020 is here!

Finally its time to start the 2020 Dart Madness tour! The first stop is this weekend – Saturday Feb. 29 – at Hotshots-Fenton (950 S. Highway Drive, Fenton, MO).

New format: The format has changed a bit for this year. The competition will start with a round robin competition. Depending on the number of entries and the number of boards available there will be 4 to 6 groups with 4 to 8 players in each group. For example if we have 16 players then we will have 4 groups of 4, 30 players will have 6 groups of 5, 48 players having 6 groups of 8. If we have more than 48 players, which will be awesome, yet crowded, lol, we will probably move to 8 groups. You will play everyone in your group 3 legs of open in, double out 501.

After the round robin stage, 8 players will advance into the Championship knockout bracket and everyone else will advance into the Consolation knockout bracket. The winners of the groups will advance into the championship bracket. If there were not 8 groups then the remaining players to make 8 will be determined by PPR. The players that did not win their group but posted the highest PPR’s will advance to the championship bracket. The reason for this instead of going to second place finishers directly is because we may not be able to use all the second place finishers and PPR is the only measurable across all brackets that is fair.

The Championship and Consolation brackets will be single elimination long format events – best of 5, best of 7, best of 9, etc. The further you move along the more legs each match becomes and the more points you earn for the Tour Points list. All 8 players in the Championship bracket will receive money and the top 4 finishers in the Consolation bracket will receive money. Payouts and points are dependent on the number of entries at each stop but examples for 30 players are listed in the rules and on the flyers for each event.

Each player is guaranteed to play a minimum of 12 legs of darts for their $30 entry fee. The blind draw is now a separate $10 entry and will follow the knockout brackets (actually it will get started about when the knockout brackets are down to the top 4). The blind draw is once again a single elimination best of 5 – Crk/501/501/Crk/Choice. Blind draws will be 100% payback and if we have any extra money to add in we will.

Tour points list: There is no maximum participation points this year. Every tour stop you play you will receive tour points based on the following –

  • Championship Knockout Bracket
    • The Top 8 round will receive 7 tour points
    • The Top 4 round will receive 12 tour points

    • Top 8 round will receive 2 tour points
