Dart Madness Event #5 saw the most players ever with 34 entries into the main event qualifier. This allowed us to pay out additional money in both the singles and the blind draw because we reached the 32 player plateau. We welcomed 7 new faces as local players Frank Loveland and Belinda Devine as well as Michael Williss and Lia Kohl came out to play. Brad Baxter from Springfield, MO made his debut and took a top 8 finish collecting 3 points. And Dave Ryan and multiple State Champion Dale Blankenship came all the way from Kansas City. Thank you all for coming and being a part of this event.
We had some new faces in the money this time around with George Arnold taking a second place finish and collecting 10 points while Dave Madison and Jeremy Lantrip took top 4 spots and 7 points each. Along with Brad Baxter, Ryan Mooneyham, Mike Johnson and Tyler Bower each collected 3 points for also finishing top 8. Top 8 got the bonus 3 points because we reached the 32 player minimum plateau.
Our winner was not a new face – Eric “E-Dubb” Robinson showed up for the second time and notched his second victory. Eric fell behind George 2-1 in the finals but then reeled off 5 straight legs to capture his 2nd title. “E-Dubb” now joins Eric Gregory as players who have over 35 tour points and are no longer eligible to play in the singles part of the qualifier. In case anyone is wondering why we do this its so that as many players as possible get a chance to win qualifiers and earn points and money as well as get a great representation of players in the finale. Once players have reached 35 tour points they have proven to be the best of the best and no longer need to qualify.
Event #6 will be in Columbia, MO on Aug. 24 at the Eagles Hall and will be held in conjunction with an all womens dart tournament. For information and a flyer check out our event list or go to the M.V.D.O. web site or look for Area 6 darts on Facebook.
